statement of Intent : Coursework

The song that I have chosen is Karma by the creator of Or3o because it discusses about determination despite hardships and how people who try to bring you down will be fought down by their own consequences. giving the message that you should not waste your time with revenge but instead work on your dreams.. My video will involve a lot of scene shifts and symbolism with the use of clothing and actions in order to take advantage of camera angles to show and not tell the messages. My video will highlight the way to improve the community by sending the message that you should not waste your energy and time on people who bring you down, that you should focus on building up on your dream than ruin someone else's dream.

I will use a low angled, wide shot that will show a successful person who had gone through hardships. This is because I want to show that they had over powered the people who tried bringing them down in order to represent to power change and a somewhat role reversal from the past and now. I want to use a high angled, medium shot for the villain of the music video in order to show that they have no power anymore. To send a message that these people have no right over your life and dreams so you shouldn't waste your time on them. I will have the characters change costumes. For example, the hero starting off with old wrinkled clothes to represent their lowest and lack of hope in perusing their dreams as they are bullied, then as they've reached success, they wear cleaner and much more sophisticated clothes to show that they're the ones with power and hope. I am also hoping to use colour schemes for settings and use of lighting and blurring to show emotions. Like the beginning being everything seems blue and edited to be blurry to represent the feeling of being lost in life and feeling sad and shift to more warmer tones and a more clear perspective as they regain that hope and happiness. I will use diegetic sounds  like the song to narrate the story of the video and control the mood which will be helped by visual narration (such as the use of costumes.) It will be harder to add non-diegetic sounds, however, to add sounds like footsteps and trees rustling will help keep the video seem less unsettling as lack of sounds can make the video seem empty.

I will represent white people in high school where two other actors will either be white or brown. with their ethnicity being Islamic or any other religion to show how anyone can be a bad person. I want to tackle down issues like bullying as it is a very common issue and perhaps send a message that bullying will get you nowhere. I plan on diverting feminine stereotypes like becoming an animator or artist, which is mostly dominated by men. However, I might accidentally reinforce stereotypes that bullies will be cruel because they are jealous of what you have achieved. 

The target demographic is targeted towards young adults and towards any gender and race that are being bullied or constantly brought down. its mostly targeted towards highschoolers as it is very stressful and where a lot of people might take it out on others. the target psychographics are mostly targeted towards strugglers and succeeder people and people who are struggling but push through to succeed. The music video will have a lot of art related stuff, so this might inspire artists rather than business people. Applying theories like Blumer and Katz, I can use personal identity for the characters as the audience will be able to relate to the characters struggles.
