Media assessment 1: Learner response

 1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).

www: very good assessment, Kamile! Detailed  response and analysis of the unseen media product with specific media terminology used.

EBI: more specific examples of  how/why  mise-en-scene is /was used in the water aid advert. more examples of how/why children are used too.

2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Write down the mark you achieved for each question:

Q1: 1
Q2: 1
Q3: 7
Q4:1
Q5:3
Q6:3

3) Identify one of your stronger questions. Why did you do better on this question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.

I did really well for the analysis for the unseen advert as i had a good understanding of denotation, annotation and explain why it was used.

4) Identify one of your weaker questions. Why did you score lower on this particular question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.

The children part of the questions was my weaker ones as it was about demographics and I haven't had an understanding of that yet,

5) Finally, write a new, detailed paragraph for Question 3 - the unseen text 12 mark question. Use the mark scheme to identify anticipated content you can add to your response and make sure you refer to the text and write in detail.

The image has an excessive use of red, red dress, red background (symbolic code), there is a text to the top that says "heat" with large red font (written code) , a slogan in the centre of the poster ( written code), there is also a website link on the bottom left (symbolic and written code). Low camera angle on Beyoncé is used (non-verbal+ technical code).

The woman in the image is shown to be wearing a red dress which connotates to heat, anger and power. her hair appears to look wild and messy, taking an appearance of fire which links to the slogan and title. The slogan "catch the fever" suggests to the consumer that the product is popular.  The low camera angle used on Beyoncé communicates that she is powerful.

Her position and stance reveals confidence and dominance which is being reinforced due to her celebrity status. The red used compliments her power as it suggests to the consumer that the product would make them feel empowered just like a celebrity and feel more confident. thus attracting buyers as the advert shows that if the fragrance presents the woman as fierce and brave, it must be a really good product.
