 1) What is independent cinema and how is it different to Hollywood blockbusters?

Independent film is cheaper to produce and doesn't have any celebrities as an actor, doesn't use lots of CGI unlike Blockbuster movies.

2) What is I, Daniel Blake about?

59 year old guy who has a heart attack and is no longer allowed to work and earn money. he seeks support from UK government. crosses paths with a single mother who has two kids and struggles with money (homeless)
Daniel fights for dignity.


3) Who directed I, Daniel Blake and why is this important?

Ken loach, he has director power. he makes film style about social realism, shows issues about poverty and unemployment. he is not rich and didn't intend to become rich.


4) How was I, Daniel Blake promoted to an audience? List at least three different methods used by the film's marketing campaign and how they targeted their audience.

traditional trailers + print adverts, the movies for cinemas.
disruptive marketing (grerilla), projected the title name of film on the parliament to get attention and main purpose of the movie. audiences would see that and look it up on google.
film was premiered in Newcastle instead of London because it was filmed there. it got local support.

BFI gave £300k, estimated to cost £2 million.
profit is £11 million.

British film institution and BBC films.

British board of film classification. and it was rated 15.


9) What aspects of the film contributed to the film's age rating?

strong political message, political tensions, employment issues, healthcare strain


10) Finally, considering everything you have learned about I, Daniel Blake, do you think the film was a success? Explain your answer in a well developed paragraph. Try and compare it to Black Widow if you can.



Yes because the film was given critic success, exhibited in 24 countries, grossed £11million and was an award winner due to it being the biggest profit for a movie in the UK. while Black widow was like every other avengers movie, despite it obviously earing more than I, Daniel Blake, it was a loss compared to their more successful movies. It did not create a big impact like  I, Daniel Blake did.
